 The space station 

 

is an artificial construction dedicated to activities in low orbit around the Earth for various purposes with sufficient internal space and qualified to host humans and save life designed to remain in low Earth orbit for a relatively long time, space stations have the potential to integrate with spacecraft from Earth in general, the International Space Station is the only operational and currently inhabited station and there have been many previous stations such as the Russian Sal station as well as the Alma station, Skylab and Mir station that fell and burned in the cover on March 23, 2001. Space stations are used to study long-term effects on the human body, also considered a platform for lengthy scientific studies, and all space stations are designed to be rotated by multiple crews, of each crew from which one person is left for weeks or months, and rarely keep a person for more than a year such as 2012 when Vladimir Tito, Musa Mana and Valery Poly spent more than a year on space missions. 

Space stations are also used for military and civilian purposes, and the first military-use station was The Sal 2 station, which was launched by the Soviet Union in 1973 as part of the Alma space program, and the Union also claimed to be for civilian purposes, and countries such as China, Russia and private companies are building space stations.
